Great Eastern-Yeo's S-League 2009
Gombak United v Woodlands Wellington
Jurong West Stadium, Saturday 7.45pm
THIS Saturday's Great Eastern-Yeo's S-League 2009 meeting between Gombak United and Woodlands Wellington will feature an intriguing clash between two siblings.
Standing in the way of Gombak's Nigerian striker Emmanuel Emuejeraye will be big brother Precious, the Rams' Singapore international centre-back.
The younger Emuejeraye arrived in Singapore three years ago as a 17-year-old and came through Gombak's Centre of Excellence programme.
Precious, 26, became a Singaporean in December 2005 and joined Gombak the following year. He was a first-team regular at the club until he moved to Woodlands at the start of this season.
The two still live together and Emmannuel admits it will be a little strange lining up opposite his brother.
"When I first came to Singapore, I never thought we would be playing against each other," the Lagos-born forward told Today.
"I was surprised when he left. I don't have anybody in the team to encourage me the way he did, but that's football.
"I have to move on."
Although he is still a Prime League player, Emmannuel has enjoyed an extended run in the first team this campaign, appearing in 12 of the Bulls' 16 S-League fixtures and has two goals to his name.
The brothers first faced off in March, when Emmanuel came on as a second-half substitute in an S-League encounter at Woodlands Stadium which ended 1-1.
"In that match I played on the right wing, so I didn't really clash with my brother," said Emmanuel.
"But if he tries to tackle me this time, I will be ready.
"I will just try to play my normal game, but it will be a challenge because Precious knows what I can do on the pitch. He has watched me grow up and always gave me advice." A S Dwight
