I refer to ''Opposition wards get LUP invite'' (July 14).

The Lift Upgrading Programme (LUP) in the two Opposition-held wards of Potong Pasir and Hougang speaks volumes of the PAP's magnanimity and impartiality to the electorates who voted against them in past General Elections. The undeniable fact is that Messrs Eric Low and Sitoh Yin Pin, advisers to Hougang and Potong Pasir grassroots organisations, respectively were certainly the key players in making the LUP a reality for the people in Hougang and Potong Pasir, respectively.

Aside from the LUP, with the impact of the GST increase, the Government's GST Credits have tremendously helped Singaporeans to ride the current "financial tsunami." I trust that the majority of Singaporeans are pleased with all that the Government is doing to alleviate their hardships during these trying times.

But to the minority whose hobby is to gripe and blame, they should reflect upon what the Government has done and continues to do for them. I am sure that the majority of Singaporeans are politically mature enough to see the good that the Government has done. Thus, I am confident that the majority of Singaporeans will know who to cast their votes for in the next General Election.
