This is probably by 10th post. All my earlier comments about Mr NMP have been deleted by TODAY.They were not abuse and I was mainly stating facts. Please look at Mr NMP's wiki entry, especially the edits.I must have touched a raw nerve with the Editors. But come on guys, why do we need more opportunists to represent the people? The Straits Times has gone completely hush on this issue as well.Do we need the NMP scheme when it is clearly impartial?I have raised some valid points. Please visit the Online Citizen for some impartiality. They don't censor facts.

#AS Cheng got in touch withTeo SL immediately after being contacted by the press, IN THE EVENING, before the news broke in the morning. I didn't know TSL can be so easily contactable what with his very busy portfolio, YOG, MCYS, MP, Mayor, etc etc. Great! TSL was there just when Cheng needed him! Wish TSL is similarly available for all his residents!!

I think he said in his letter he got involed with other civil groups instead. In his ST profile, it said he was on the council of the Red Cross. Maybe thats what he was referring to.

I totally agree with what Curiousity K had posted. In his reply to Mr. Balji, Mr. Cheng touted the virtues of curiosity. He joined Young PAP out of curiosity, but then chose to remain inactive! Errr.... Mr. Cheng, doesn't this contradict everything in your reply??

My point is questions shld be thrown at the Committee not at the NMP, because the guy was honest in his application. They cld have rejected him on the spot but they didnt.

I wonder why there are some who would smell a fish over an issue like this. Given that Calvin has put himself forward openly as an NMP, and before he has even participated in any of the Parliamentary debates/discussions, doubts and innuendos are hurled at the young man so generously. Is it so difficult to accept this young Singaporean who wishes to enliven, broaden and enrich Parliamentary sessions as an NMP? He has gone public to explain his stand, and the rationale for his actions. Let us all be a wee bit magnanimous and help him adjust to his new role as an NMP. Guide, advise, counsel, direct etc if one has the experiences, knowledge and wisdom, in particular Mr P N Balji who has the wherewithal to make that definitive difference to Calvin's future contributions as an NMP. Calvin has lots to learn, and as he matures in his role as an NMP, he would surely be appreciative of the suggestions, criticisms and inputs, starting right here in this forum. Calvin, take heart and move on.

I think the answer is no. I remember that Ong Teng Cheong said he didnt have to resign from PAP but he did anyway.

Andrea, Low Thia Khiang is only one person out of the Selection Committee. Question is whether all members of Selection Committee must defend the committee's decision regardless of personal objection. Does this "slip" also mean a PAP cadre applying for Presidential Candidacy should not quit PAP unless he has passed the scrutiny of the Presidential Election Committee.

It's quite easy to get access to Teo Ser Luck. As mayor, he has to be easily accessible.

We are asking the wrong person and the wrong question. The Select committee, picked him. He didnt pick himself. It's not like he was 'exposed'. It was in the initial report that he put his membership on his application form and the Select Commitee knows. And they picked him regardless...therfore, I say we are asking the wrong person and the wrong question. The select commitee must have thought it was ok, including mr low thia kiang?
