I have been waiting all week for the relevant authorities to respond to this, and why have they not done so? Are they guilty or do they think that this issue will just go away with time?

hmmm.... actually, this experience also highlighted the value for us to pick up some basic knowledge to deal with emergencies on the spot.... can help prevent the situation fr turning more serious. Maybe we shd learn how to help ourselves instead of just relying on the govt.
