French President Nicolas Sarkozy talks to German Chancellor Angela Merkel during a visit to the 'Charles de Gaulle Memorial' in Colombey-Les-Deux-Eglises.

President Nicolas Sarkozy insisted on Saturday that France and Germany have "exactly the same view" on the financial crisis during a joint press conference with Chancellor Angela Merkel.
.
Only a week earlier, the two largest economies in the eurozone had been divided over the need for a joint European package to protect the banking sector from the effects of the global credit crunch.
.
"All decisions, all preparations and all analyses, we're making together," Sarkozy insisted, one day before the two leaders were due to meet their 13 counterparts from the other eurozone members for crisis talks.
.
Merkel agreed Paris and Berlin were "on the same path as regards putting in place a concerted and coherent reaction for the eurozone" but noted that within this there was "naturally room for manoeuvre for each member state". — AFP
