SINGAPORE — With two editions this year, Affordable Art Fair Singapore is opening its doors to charity.

Its May edition, which runs from May 23 to 25, will be the global brand’s 100th fair event since 1999 and the fifth in Singapore. Mini artworks by different artists from across the globe will be for sale at S$100 each.

And here’s where Singapore’s artists come in. They can submit A5-sized works and 100 per cent of the proceeds will be donated to the Red Pencil Humanitarian Mission under the international art therapy charity The Red Pencil Foundation, which helps children cope with international disasters.

To participate, artists need to fill up a proposal form and email it, together with two high-res images of their previous work and an artist statement of their current practice to alexis [at] affordableartfair.com by April 9. A panel will review the submissions and chosen artists will have five weeks to finish and submit their mini artworks.

It is open to all artists (with or without gallery representation, and even if they’re not fair participants). Galleries can also submit proposals on behalf of the artists. There will be no particular theme or medium other than the A5-size restriction.

All artists and representing galleries will be cited in the fair’s publicity and EDM materials as well as in the fair catalogue and website, including links to the gallery or artist websites.
