Olivia Ong talks about Romance

(That's not Zai Zai but her co-star from her music video, A Love Theme) So it's just a working relationship with Zai Zai? Yeah. Why don't you think so? All the songs here are love songs. When did you decided to conceptualise Romance as such? Romance wasn’t something that we wanted. It just happened that as we compiled the songs, we realised oh, it was all about romance. And they were happy tunes. Was that the state of your mind when doing this album? I guess everything fell into place. I started making friends in Taiwan, I became more open and friendlier. And I was happy. I think it’s very rare to meet people who feel so deeply and are so deep as people about music and life. And I like hanging out with them. And I learned so much. I was invited to watch a Taiwanese orchestra. When I grew up I listened to Christina or Britney, but after meeting these people they opened me up to Paul McCartney, Gal Costa, The Beatles, Foo Fighters, Nina Simone, hip hop… You’ve done quite a lot of different styles... It’s quite messy yeah? I haven’t really done jazz though.
