FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF SINGAPORE?

I haven’t had much time to look around but my very first impression is that everyone is so nice, so thank you for opening up your arms and welcoming me and my band and team to your country. It’s also really, really clean, which I love.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR UPCOMING ALBUM.

I feel like it’s everything that I am and everything I’ve already done but ten times better. I’m very excited about it, there’re so many really great pop songs and other songs too that get heavy and emotional and I’m opening up too talking about things I’ve never talked about before. It’s a big step for me and I’m really excited. I’m excited to see the audience tonight my first time here in Singapore, I’ve never performed for everyone over here so I’m really excited to see what the audience is like and what the energy is going to be like.

WHAT WOULD YOU TELL YOUR 15-YEAR-OLD SELF IF YOU COULD MEET HER?

Put your seatbelt on because your life is about to get really crazy. I’d also just tell her that she’s beautiful and that she doesn’t have to change for anybody; that she’s loved.

DO YOU HAVE ANY ACTING PLANS FOR 2013?

With music I get to create music and I get to do my own thing. With movies and TV shows, apart from the X Factor (judging stint), I have to play someone else and that’s something that I’ve not been very interested in doing lately. I like doing music and performing and I feel like what works best for me right now is focusing on one career at a time.

DO YOU THINK BEING A JUDGE ON THE X FACTOR AFFECTS YOUR CREDIBILITY AS A SINGER?

X Factor, first off, has changed my life because it has gotten me in front of so many people and I’ve been able to showcase not only my personality to a lot of people who are not typically in my demographic but also showcase my thoughts on the knowledge that I have on music and it’s been pretty cool to open up like that and getting people to know me better. A lot more people have gotten to know who I am because of it but I wouldn’t call it fashionable, I feel like that’s a weird word to call a judge. Other judges were off doing their own thing but for me it was just a great opportunity to get in front of a lot more people and help someone achieve their dreams.

HAVE U KEPT IN TOUCH WITH ANY OF THE X FACTOR CONTESTANTS?

I’ve kept in touch with Cece Frey. She was the last contestant I had in my group so I got to know her a bit better than the other contestants. I know that she’s working hard on her dreams. She’s really awesome; she’s become a good friend of mine.

WHAT MESSAGE DO YOU HAVE FOR STUDENTS BEING BULLIED HERE?

I was bullied when l was 12-years-old. It was pretty extensive. I left public school to be home schooled and l just remembered thinking nobody in the world deserves to be bullied like this. So ever since then I’ve just spoken out about that issue and since I’ve been able to, people started to listen. If you are being bullied, speak up about it and if you are witnessing somebody being bullied, speak up about it. It doesn’t make you cool at all to bully somebody. What makes you cool is to hang out with the people that are being made fun of and try to be friends with everybody.

WHO OR WHAT IS YOUR INSPIRATION?

My inspiration has been a lot of the things I’ve gone through in the past. My family is a huge inspiration, my little sister mainly because she’s my baby sister and I want to protect her from everything so when I speak up about my issues with eating disorders or whatever it is I have dealt with, I want to make sure that I set a place where young girls know they can talk about it and don’t have to struggle with it anymore.

IF YOU WEREN’T DEMI LOVATO, POP SUPERSTAR, TODAY, WHAT WOULD YOU BE?

I’d be Demi Lovato, hanging out in Singapore.
