Heya Film Fans, Some ScreenSingapore news for you! Look out foreign talent, Singaporeans are flocking home! Born and bred Singaporeans Sukee Chew of Los Angeles-based Hopscotch Pictures and Andrew Ooi of Vancouver-based Echelon Talent Management have banded together and announced the launch of their newly minted Singapore-based production and talent management outfit, The COcreative Company. Chew who is the producer of Jesus Henry Christ (see below) and John Stockwell’s Dark Tide starring Halle Berry and Oliver Martinez, has planned a slate of films with Ooi, whose company Echelon manages talent including Singapore boy turned Mr Hollywood Chin Han (The Dark Knight, 2012), C.S.I's Archie Kao, Maggie Q(TV's Nikita) Josie Ho, Dustin Nguyen, Kenneth Tsang and Singapore’s own Edmund Chen Zhicai. Projects in development include a biopic starring Maggie Q, written and to be helmed by Jesus Henry Christ's Korean-American directer Dennis Lee and a thriller which will be shot in Singapore. Jesus Henry Christ which will internationally premiere at ScreenSingapore come this Friday (10th June) is produced by Chew and executive produced by none other than Julia Roberts and her Red Om production outfit. The film stars Michael Sheen, Toni Collette and newcomer Jason Spevack. Ooi is no slouch when it comes to producing either, having executive produced three films – Pang Ho Cheung’s Dream Home, Wong Ching Po’s Revenge: A Love Story and The Courier, directed by Hany Abu Assad and starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Josie Ho and Mickey Rourke, through Hong Kong-based 852 Films. "We are delighted to welcome The COcreative Company to the home of the founders," said Aubeck Kam, CEO of Singapore's Media Development Authority.
