Sweating it out with Tay Ping Hui

Good afternoon! I'm sorry to disappoint but this is Erika The Intern in place of your Showbiz Sista. Not to be confused with Michelle, who is The Other Intern. Alright, now that that's settled! :) So the previous day, I caught up with TPH (that's Tay Ping Hui to you) during a lensing ceremony (you know, the ritual where the cast and crew give offerings to the gods before they start filming on location) for the upcoming cop drama Unriddle.

Wow, someone's sweaty!

So you’re usually very clean-shaven. How long did it take for you to grow all that hair? This took me about…2 weeks? I love it. It’s quite therapeutic, when you’re thinking of something, you can just stroke it. But it can get a bit unruly, so you have to trim it, which is a pain. Oh and I have white hair sprouting out, so I have to blacken it. So it’s a bit leceh, lah. I noticed you scrunching your nose at the joss offerings just now, what’s up with that? Oh yeah, I have a seriously sensitive nose, so that just really got to me. Your blog (http://www.taypinghui.wordpress.com) is mostly written in Chinese and I had a really tough time deciphering it 'cos I’m quite bad at Chinese. Tsk tsk tsk tsk tsk tsk tsk. (yes, he did that for quite some time) Would you ever consider blogging in English for your English-speaking and reading audience? Yeah, yeah. When I have the time I actually try to translate my articles into English. I tried using a translation software, which sucks. Totally sucks, it’s terrible. The grammar is quite bad. But yeah, I will, I will, because I realise that the younger generation *gives me a mock death stare* cannot read Chinese. Anyway, you’re 40 this year. Are you ever going to settle down? Of course, I’ve always wanted to settle down. It’s not really a question of if, it’s more of when. Apparently I’m seeing someone right now, according to all the press. Jumping into marriage, why not? I'll lose my fan base once I get married? Oh dear, that would be a killer to my career.

Pseudo artsy-fartsy shot

Another pseudo artsy-fartsy shot.

Alas, poor Babe, we hardly knew thee.

Kola Zhou playing a haughty coffee shop cashier, although she is delightful in real life.

The weather was incredibly hot and so was poor Andie Chen (from Fighting Spiders). They redid this interrogation/questioning scene about 20 times, so give them some credit yeah?

The lensing ceremony begins with the director at the helm.

Where's your joss stick, Chen Liping?

Poor Rui En looks terrified by the prospect of splitting the roast pig in half.

"Huat Ah!"

All's good when you have 15 MediaCorp artistes and a roast pig.

One more for my camera, they're all so obliging! :)

Paige Chua looking boho-geek chic

Andie Chen sweating through his shirt. Poor thing, it really was sweltering.

Priscelia Chan, aka the most hyper one. She was bounding all over set like a happy pony :D

Me: "Why did you look so constipated just now?"

TPH: "Actually, I'd like to think that I shit quite often."

Charming.

Priscelia

Rui En, "Sorry if I look oily, the weather is terrible!"

Chen Liping

Okay, no prizes for guessing whose kicks these are. Alrighty then, that's all from me for now. Till then, this is Erika The Intern, signing out! :)
