SINGAPORE — Apple’s App Store is allowing users to download a host of popular apps for iPhone and iPad for free, in honour of its fifth anniversary tomorrow (July 10).

Five popular apps and five landmark games are free to download now, but only for a limited period. Apple is yet to make any new announcements about whether more apps will be offered for free.

The apps are Barefoot World Atlas, Day One (Journal/Diary), How to Cook Everything, Over, and Traktor DJ.

The Traktor DJ app for the iPad usually sells for US$19.99 (S$25.55) in the US store.

The games on offer are BADLAND, Infinity Blade II, Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP, Tiny Wings and Where’s My Water?

Since 2008, Apple has revolutionised the smartphone industry, bringing to the table over 900,000 apps and surpassing 50 billion downloads — over 800 per second — as of May 16, 2013.
