Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn premieres on YouTube

Halo fans who have ever wondered what it would be like to live in the Halo universe can ask these actors. Tom Green (“Dance Academy”), Anna Popplewell (The Chronicles of Narnia), and Daniel Cudmore (X2, X-Men: The Last Stand, The Twilight Saga) as the Master Chief are just some of the cast in the first live-action rendition of the blockbuster game. Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn (twitter hashtag #Halo4FUD), the online-only series leading up to the launch of Halo 4 on Nov 6, will be aired on Machinima Prime's YouTube channel in five webisodes airing on Fridays starting Oct 5. If the first episode is anything to go by, fans will be begging for a network to pick it up soon -- not to mention a feature-length movie.

A credible cast, believable special effects and tight pacing makes this series addictive and before it comes to an end, I believe fans will be asking for more. Whether this turns into a full-fledged series will be up to discussions between publisher Microsoft, developer 343 Industries and studio networks.

Cadets in the Hastati Squad at the UNSC Corbulo Academy of Military Science

Directed by Stewart Hendler (“H+,” “Sorority Row”), written by Todd Helbing and Aaron Helbing (“Smallville,” “Spartacus”), the look and feel of the series is similar to Battlestar Galactica (the reprised 2003 version) and its spin-off, Caprica. The story takes off before Halo -- before humans and the Covenant even meet. Set in a United Nations Space Command (UNSC) military academy, the series follows a group of cadets training to fight insurrectionists in the outer colonial planets. The protagonist, Thomas Lasky (Green) struggles with his doubts about the war and fighting his fellow human insurrectionists. Before he can decide on a course of action that might shame him and his military family, the arrival of the alien alliance, the Covenant, turns his world upside down.

Protagonist Thomas Lasky of the Hastati Squad The plot in the series is linked to the new iteration of the game and fans of the show will gain special insights into the story of Halo 4 and the Halo Infinity Multiplayer experience. Fans will get a tingle when they recognise elements from the game, such as the Assault Rifle, the basic weapon used by spartans and when the Warthog rolls into scene. As the series progresses, there will be more familiar weapons and vehicles added, I hope, which will make playing the game more immersive. And the appearance of Master Chief in the next episode (hopefully) will definitely be a turning point in the series and draw more fans to the channel.
