SINGAPORE — Samsung today (May 7) revealed a slew of new home appliances, which the Korean company says “will enable consumers to enjoy happier experiences in the home”. The appliances cover a whole range of products, from refrigerators to air purifiers, to vacuum cleaners and ovens.

For starters, the Samsung Food ShowCase refrigerator aims to assist home owners by providing even more ways to organise their food while keeping it fresh. One key design feature is a two-layer door design: The outer layer, the ShowCase, holds smaller and more often accessed items such as snacks, and is organised by colour into the Cooking Zone, the Family Zone and the Kids Zone at the lower level. The second layer, the InnerCase, holds larger ingredients and keeps them fresher for longer. While it might seem convoluted, this arrangement works well, and users no longer have to open the whole fridge just to access their refreshments.

There are two models, the RH60H8130WZ and the flagship RH57H90507H, which come with different internal volumes and the flagship also has an ice and water dispenser and a metal cooling door. They cost S$4,499 and S$5,099 respectively and are now available.

Next up is Samsung’s own range of washing machines, the Crystal Series Eco-Bubble Washers. These front-loading washing machines come with double-hinged doors for easier access, and all models come with Samsung’s Eco Bubble technology that claims to dissolve detergent faster for better foam that requires less hot water. They also come with options to wash clothes faster, more silently, or with less water, and also have Specialty Cycles that allow users to tell the machine what sort of dirt to expect, such as “Gardening” or “Active Sports” modes.

The flagship washer, the WW9000, comes with Auto Optimal Wash which will sense the optimal wash cycle, temperature, time, rinse cycle and spin speed depending on the load. It also has a 5” Full Touch Screen to control the washer, VRT-M Technology that helps reduce vibration and noise, and even can be controlled via your smartphone using Smart Control. The WW9000 retails at S$2,999, other models are priced from S$1,099 to S$1,999. All models are now available.

Samsung also unveiled a new pair of air purifiers, the Samsung Jupiter and the Samsung Paper. Both systems have Samsung’s Virus Doctor System that claims to remove up to 99.9 per cent of viruses and bacteria. The Samsung Jupiter can filter 0.3 micrometre-fine particles, and retails at S$429 for a 22 sq m version, and S$549 for a 41 sq m version.

Meanwhile, the Samsung Paper also comes with a humidification system to ensure good moisture content in the air. It retails at S$829, and the Paper and the Jupiter are both now available in stores.

Samsung has also added a new model to its NaviBot series with the NaviBot CornerClean vacuum cleaner. The key difference is the POP-OUT Brush, which allows the cleaning robot to reach deeper into corners, which many robot cleaners are not able to do. The new NaviBot is also slimmer, allowing it to go under more types of furniture than older models, and has improved mapping systems for cleaning. It will be available from July this year, and retails at S$1,199.

Samsung also showed off its Smart Oven series, which comes with the ability to “fry” food without the use of oil, moisture sensors and other sensors to help ensure home owners can prepare food to their satisfaction. It comes in two models, the MC28H5135CK and the MC32F606, of which the latter is larger and comes with sensors for defrosting and reheat modes. They retail at S$399 and S$649 respectively, and are available now.

Finally, Samsung announced their built-in kitchen appliance collection, which includes an oven, that comes with features like the ability to set two different temperatures in the same oven that allows home owners to prepare two dishes at the same time. Samsung also showed off a new dishwasher, and new induction hobs and cooker hoods.

“We place strong emphasis on the design and technology of our home appliances to deliver relevant and tangible benefits to our consumers’ lives,” said Mr Stanley Goh, Vice President, Consumer Electronics, Samsung Singapore. “Samsung’s appliances and its innovative technology help to reduce the hassle of household chores, resulting in greater conveniences in consumers’ daily lives. By making the right choices in their appliances, everyday tasks are now enjoyable experiences, creating happier homes.”
