CDL appoints new Deputy Chairman and CEO

SINGAPORE — City Developments Limited today (Jan 16) announced that it has appointed a new Chief Executive Office (CEO) and Deputy Chairman as the company looks to expand its business beyond Singapore.

SINGAPORE – City Developments Limited (CDL) has appointed its first CEO to lead the company in an increasingly competitive and rapidly changing business environment.  

Mr Grant L. Kelley, who is Australian, will assume the position from February 17, CDL said in a statement. He will take over in the key leadership role from Mr Kwek Leng Joo, who occupied the position of managing director.

Mr Kelley has more than 20 years of global experience in corporate strategy, private equity and real estate investment in a number of countries, CDL said, including Singapore, Australia and the United States.

“With his wide expertise in finance and international real estate investment, he will initiate new strategies and intensify CDL’s diversification plans.,” said Executive Chairman Mr Kwek Leng Beng.

Meanwhile, Mr Kwek Leng Joo is shifting roles to become the company’s deputy chairman.

“We need to be less Singapore-centric in light of limited opportunities domestically. These appointments will help strengthen and deepen the expertise of our management team as we shift gears and look outwards to capitalise on growth markets,” said Mr Kwek Leng Beng.
