Koh Brothers wins S$98m HDB contract

SINGAPORE — Koh Brothers Group today (Feb 13) announced that it has won a S$98 million contract from the Housing Development Board (HDB) to build Vine Grove @ Yishun, a build-to-order (BTO) project introduced to the market through the HDB’s sales exercise in July last year.

The project comprises of 696 units across five 13-storey blocks and one seven-storey block, and the Mainboard-listed developer plans to begin construction in March 2014 for a duration of 31 months.

Group chief executive and managing director Mr Francis Koh said Koh Brothers’ precast capabilities will be instrumental for the project, which involves some 16 per cent of precast elements.

It also falls in line with the government’s push to improve productivity in Singapore’s construction sector, at a time when the public housing pipeline is being expanded to meet demand.

“We’ve recently opened our first precast plant in Senai, Iskanda Malaysia in view of the government’s intention to ramp up housing supply to 90,000 private units and 110,000 public homes by 2016 and are well-placed to cater to this project,” Mr Koh said.

The contract for Vine Grove @ Yishun follows Koh Brothers’ successful bid for the development of an executive condominium site in Jurong West just last month. The S$198.9 million project will be developed via its joint venture with Heeton Holdings.
