More flexibility for businesses as HDB industrial assets come under JTC

SINGAPORE — Businesses will have greater flexibility in executing their expansion plans with the consolidation of Housing and Development Board’s (HDB) industrial land and properties under JTC Corp (JTC), said Mr Koh Poh Koon, Minister of State (National Development, and Trade & Industry) yesterday.

With more clarity on how best to aggregate the demand and meet the needs of industrialists, JTC will be in a better position to create innovative facilities to cater to the wide range of requirements for different industries.

Mr Koh assured businesses that there will be no change in their rental agreements during the transfer, noting that JTC and HDB rental policies have been aligned over the years. He added that the consolidation will enable industrialists to look at a larger spectrum of available facilities, so that they can scale up more efficiently.

“We can now cater to the needs of micro to medium to larger enterprises. There will be a lot more flexibility in terms of transit from a previous HDB to a larger JTC facility without having to change lease agreements halfway through their lease terms,” he said during a visit to HDB industrial premises at Gourmet East Kitchen in Bedok North.

Mr Ho Meng Kit, CEO of the Singapore Business Federation, said: “SBF welcomes the consolidation of industrial land and properties under JTC. This one-stop access to the full range of public sector industrial facilities will benefit businesses, as the shared resources under JTC will improve efficiency and help reduce business costs over time.”

Industrial land and properties under the HDB will be transferred to JTC by the first quarter of 2018. Rumi Hardasmalani
