Warren Fernandez to become Editor-in-Chief for SPH English/Malay/Tamil Media

SINGAPORE – The Straits Times editor Mr Warren Fernandez will also assume the role of Editor-in-Chief of Singapore Press Holdings’ (SPH) English/Malay/Tamil Media (EMTM) from 1 July, the newspaper group said in a statement Tuesday.

SINGAPORE – The Straits Times editor Mr Warren Fernandez will also assume the role of Editor-in-Chief of Singapore Press Holdings’ (SPH) English/Malay/Tamil Media (EMTM) from 1 July, the newspaper group said in a statement Tuesday.

The current Editor-in-Chief Mr Patrick Daniel will take on the role of Deputy CEO, along with Mr Anthony Tan – currently Executive Vice President of SPH’s Chinese media group (CMG) and Head of the Media Strategy and Analytics Division (MSA).

Both Mr Daniel and Mr Tan will report to the group’s CEO, Mr Alan Chan.

Mr Daniel will continue to oversee the EMTM group as well as Marketing, Digital, Information Technology, Legal/Secretariat, Corporate Communications & CSR, and Risk Management. Mr Tan will oversee the Production, Circulation, Corporate Development, Finance, Human Resources and Administration divisions, and continue to helm CMG and MSA.

In other changes, The Straits Times current Deputy Editor - Ms Sumiko Tan - will become its Executive Editor. Mr Ignatius Low – who is also Deputy Editor and Head of SPH’s Information Resource Centre (IRC), will be Managing Editor and continue to be Head of the IRC.

EMTM comprises The Straits Times, The Business Times, The New Paper, Berita Harian, My Paper (English section) and their respective student publications. It also includes subsidiaries Tamil Murasu Ltd, which publishes Tamil Murasu and the two English stations of SPH Radio - Kiss92 and ONE FM 91.3.

CMG publishes three Chinese newspapers - Lianhe Zaobao, Lianhe Wanbao and Shin Min Daily News and operates SPH Radio’s Chinese radio station, UFM100.3.
