HONG KONG — Hospital staff in east China calmly finished a medical procedure for a patient while a major fire at a construction site blazed outside the ward window.

A fire broke out at a construction site next to a hospital in Binzhou, Shandong province, on Wednesday (March 15). A video showing medical personnel calmly continuing to treat their patient dialysis went viral online the same day, according to People's Daily, which tweeted the footage.

An eyewitness said the staff in the video were aware of the danger outside. The staff continued their work, despite being right next to the window.

After the procedure, the nurse immediately relocated the patient, the eyewitness said. The fire was soon put out and no injury was caused.

Social media users marvelled at the composure displayed by staff on the ward. A Weibo user, who identified himself as a nurse, said, "Nurses should not abandon their patients under any circumstances. This is our duty. We have to evacuate our patients safely, quickly and effectively." SOUTH CHINA MORNING POST
