Chinese news gets Condoleezza and Susan Rice mixed up
In what appeared to have been a mix-up by the Chinese state broadcaster China Central Television, a news item carried by its English News channel on Sunday used a picture of former United States Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in its report about United States National Security Adviser Susan Rice’s visit to China this week.
In what appeared to have been a mix-up by the Chinese state broadcaster China Central Television, a news item carried by its English News channel on Sunday used a picture of former United States Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in its report about United States National Security Adviser Susan Rice’s visit to China this week.
The South China Morning Post said three pictures of Ms Condoleezza Rice were used throughout the 50-second report aired by the broadcaster. A video of the report had been uploaded on China Central Television’s YouTube account.
Internet users were quick to point out the mix-up, with some noting that Ms Condoleezza Rice was not serving in the administration of US President Barack Obama.
The broadcaster also appeared to have noticed the mistake. On Monday, it posted a video on its official website of the same visit, but with the correct pictures of Ms Susan Rice. Agencies
