HONG KONG — He bought top-brand lipstick online, designed the shape of cat and then carved the rouge. Sometimes he used a lighter to soften it and make it easy to reshape.

He said his first finished lipstick took him about 10 hours to compete after he had broken five of them in the process.

Mr Wang refused to carve lipsticks with a 3D printer as “it was more meaningful to carve myself”, the report said.

The story did not name the object of Wang’s desire, or if he had indeed sent the gift to her. But his acts sparked a discussion online with many saying the woman would be happier to receive the original lipstick.

“That’s not a surprise, but a woman’s nightmare,” one Internet user wrote on Weibo.

Another said: “What you have cut was money.” SOUTH CHINA MORNING POST
