NEW DELHI — A New Delhi zoo official says a man was killed by a tiger after climbing into the moat surrounding the animal’s enclosure.

National Zoological Park spokesman Riyaz Ahmed Khan says a guard repeatedly warned the man not to get too close to the tiger’s enclosure this afternoon (Sept 23). But the man eventually jumped over a fence and into a protective moat. The tiger grabbed the man from the moat.

Authorities eventually frightened the tiger into a small cage inside the enclosure. Mr Khan says the man was dead by the time help reached him.

Further details about the victim and the tiger were not immediately available. AP
