SINGAPORE — Some frontline healthcare professionals from SingHealth, often the first point of contact with elderly patients at healthcare institutions, got a lesson in how to better relate and serve the elderly at an age-sensitisation workshop yesterday.
The workshop, which has been attended by more than 1,000 frontline staff and supervisors to date, saw participants role-play and experience the day-to-day difficulties faced by elderly patients, as well as brainstorm on what elderly-friendly processes can be introduced at their workplaces.
SingHealth has also introduced the SingHealth Age-Friendly Guidelines, a handbook to guide staff on making ambulatory centres more age-friendly. Developed with the Tsao Foundation, it includes recommendations for staff training, as well as improving physical environment and operational processes.
