SINGAPORE — “Today’s special moments are tomorrow’s memories,” says the genie in Disney’s Aladdin. And what a special moment it was for more than 70 families, all beneficiaries of Make A Wish Foundation Singapore, who met the genie in person at Hotel Intercontinental Singapore on Saturday afternoon.
It was the character’s first official appearance here for a special mission with Make A Wish Foundation Singapore, which is celebrating its 15th year with a campaign to encourage people to be “genies”, said its board chairman and spokesperson Dr Keith Goh. “We hope there’ll be genies like members of the public, doctors and nurses, who’ll recommend children (who’re medically eligible) to us so we can help fulfil their wishes,” he added.
Make A Wish Foundation Singapore tied up with Disney for the genie’s appearance, a partnership Dr Goh said came naturally and easily with the direction of the latest campaign.
Making yesterday’s event even more special, the Ferrari Club Singapore granted six-year-old Evan Tan’s wish to be a race-car driver. It gave him a grand surprise by turning up outside his house with a convoy of Ferraris before whisking him off to Kartride for some go-karting fun. He then rode in a Ferrari to join the rest of the Make A Wish Foundation Singapore family to meet the genie. Serene Lim
