SINGAPORE — Children’s theatre company ACT 3 International has collaborated with the National Arts Council and the National Library Board for a new theatre outreach initiative titled Library Hop, that is currently touring a site-specific, interactive children’s show in libraries this month.

Titled Through our Looking Glass, the piece was performed last Sunday at Woodlands Regional Library, before moving on to Tampines Regional Library and Jurong West Public Library today and tomorrow at noon, respectively. Inspired by the famous Alice books by Lewis Carroll, the work features the story of a young girl named Annabelle who encounters the likes of the Cheesey Hatter, and the Swamp King and Queen. Each version expounds on the heritage found in the performance venue: The Woodlands performance talked about the rubber plantations of Woodlands, while the Tampines show will touch on the origins of its name (the Tempinis tree), and the Jurong performance looks at its industrial origins.
