SINGAPORE — The prestigious Asia Pacific Breweries (APB) Foundation Signature Art Prize returns for its third edition this year, with around 105 nominated artworks from 24 countries set to vie for the prize. Of these, 15 shortlisted works will eventually be announced in August and exhibited at the Singapore Art Museum (SAM) in November.

The panel of judges comprise SAM director Dr Susie Lingham, Queensland Art Gallery director Chris Saines, Bangkok Art And Culture Center director Luckana Kunavichayanont, KHOJ International Artists’ Association director Pooja Sood and curator-critic Feng Boyi.

The nominated works were chosen by 36 nominators including Singapore’s own artists-curators Alan Oei and Cheo Chai-Hiang.

The Grand Prize now comes with S$60,000, a 30 per cent increase from the amount in 2011, and two Juror’s Choice Awards — down from the previous three — will be at S$15,000. The prize will retain its People’s Choice Award of S$10,000, via the show and on the art prize microsite.

In 2011, Filipino artist Rodel Tapaya bagged the Grand Prize while Singaporean artist Michael Lee received the People’s Choice Award. Mayo Martin
