THOUSAND KNIVES. Singaporean artist Wong Lip Chin’s first solo show in seven years features a series of paintings and reliefs installed upon a revolving waterwheel-like structure, as well as a series of videos. A TREE WITH TOO MANY BRANCHES. Singaporean artist Ang Song Nian looks to the trees in his first solo exhibition, which features a huge inflatable bonsai plant as well as an installation comprising 800 iron trees. Until March 15 at DECK (116 Prinsep Street). Free admission.

ALLEGORIES — THE WORKS OF WONG SHIH YAW. A survey exhibition by one of the founding members of The Artists Village, it showcases 60 drawings and paintings spanning two decades. DIEGO RIVERA: PRIDE OF MEXICO. A showcase of the iconic Mexican artist’s 34 artworks from the state of Veracruz, produced during the 52 years of his life. CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION. Pangdemonium’s first play of the year is this award-winning comedy where four strangers join an acting class run by a hippie. Directed by Tracie Pang, it stars Nikki Muller, Adrian Pang, Selma Alkaff, Daniel Jenkins and Neo Swee Lin. Until Feb 15, 8pm, at the DBS Arts Centre. With 3pm weekend matinees. HUAYI FESTIVAL 2015. SPEAKEASY #17 (HELD AT THE MILL). A poetry reading in Bengali and Tamil by migrant workers who are also part of the Banglar Kantha Literary Association. The English translations will be recited by Singaporean poets. The event is done as part of the Destruction & Rebirth festival. Feb 8, 6.30pm to 9pm, The Mill, No. 5 Jalan Kilang. Free admission.

SPEAKEASY #18: THE VALENTINE EDITION. A romantic night of poetry featuring 14 writers, musicians, teachers, DJs and booksellers, including Ng Yi Sheng, Alvin Pang, Yeow Kai Chai, Huzir Sulaiman, Joel Tan, Cyril Wong, Desmond Kon, BooksActually’s Renee and Kenny, among others. DANCE WITH ME. The Substation associate artist Ming Poon will be asking strangers on the street to slow dance with him, an invitation to step away from the busy world and into a moment of intimacy. ARKIV VILMANSA – FUTURE, PRESENT AND PAST. Indonesian artist Arkiv Vilmansa’s works showcase his latest technique of multi-layering paint on acrylic plastic sheets and features new characters done in his unique style that combine the surreal with the playful. ARMEN AGOP: TRANSCONTEMPORARY. An exhibition of new granite and bronze sculptures by the Egyptian artist. GEO | GRAPHIC: CELEBRATING MAPS AND THEIR STORIES. An extensive exhibition featuring rare and original maps as well contemporary artworks that look at map-making and its relationship to Singapore and South-east Asia. THE ART INCUBATOR 6: RESIDENCY AS METHOD.
