BARBIE LIVE! Yes, the world’s most famous doll takes to the stage in the world premiere of this all-ages dance-inspired musical. NEW VISION. T.H.E. Dance Company’s 5th anniversary celebrations continue with three multi-disciplinary works by Kuik Swee Boon, Zhuo Zihao and Jeffrey Tan, in collaboration with musicians Bani Haykal and Toh Tze Chin. UTTER. This pre-Singapore Writers Festival event is a screening of short films created based on Singapore literature. Catch works by Kat Goh, Royston Tan, Lilian Wang, and Ric Aw and Pok Yue Weng, based on pieces by David Leo, Arthur Yap, Foo Chen Loong, Suratman Markasan and Liang Wern Fook. MOONFEST 2013. The Esplanade’s mid-Autumn festival celebrations include, among others, Zhejiang Wu Opera Research Centre’s The Legend Of The White Snake and Heroes And Heroines, and The Finger Players’ children’s show Tales Of Filial Piety. A SURVEY OF THE SINGAPORE PSYCHOGEOGRAPHICAL SOCIETY. Debbie Ding’s latest show comprises five series of works that serve as playful visual documents on the different urban cities she’s been to. RE:UNION. The works of six graduates from Nanyang Technological University are “reunited” in this show. Curated by Jane Koh, it features young artists Jasper Yu, Quek Jia Liang, Carrie Lam, Abednego Trianto, Sam Chin and Willis Turner Henry. DREAMSCAPES. A two-person show featuring the landscapes of young artists Jane Koh and Jeannie Ho, curated by Tan Ngiap Heng. Sept 5 to 25, 10am to 7pm, Artistry, 17 Jalan Pinang. Free.

POSSESSIONS. In this art installation, Sarah Choo mimics the interior of a domestic space. Oil paintings replace objects that could have been lain on, under or within furniture. Inanimate objects take on the presence of an absent being. Sept 5 to 22, noon to 7pm, Galerie Sogan & Art, 15 Mohamed Sultan Road. Free. Sundays by appointment.

THE PENIS SOCIETY. Inspired by last year’s many sex scandals, Toy Factory’s latest show features three men who talk about their lives and what it takes to be a man. Written by Goh Boon Teck, directed by Patricia Toh. Sept 10 to 29, 8.30pm, Aquanova, Block C, #01-09, Clarke Quay. Tickets at S$26 from Sistic and EventCliQue or S$31 at the door. No shows on Monday and Friday.

DO GORILLAS PEEL BANANAS? A show by Chan Sze-Wei with David Lim as part of SeptFest 2013, it’s a live improvisation show with choreography, spoken dialogue and “violence to fruit”. D E S — TRACES III: A MOVING CHRONICLE. Dance Ensemble Singapore presents a dance drama about a series of tragedies that shatter the lives of a family.
