SINGAPORE — Singapore Art Week peaks with non-stop visual art-related events, including the opening of three art fairs — Art Stage, Art Apart and Singapore Contemporary — along with a slew of shows, including the National Gallery Singapore’s exhibitions on Tang Da Wu and three other seminal regional artists, and the NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore’s show on Venice Biennale winner Joan Jonas. Earlier this week, awards were given out at the Prudential Eye Awards and the Joseph Balestier Award for the Freedom of Art (the latter went to Cultural Medallion recipient Lee Wen). Elsewhere, the Singapore Art Museum revealed details about the Singapore Biennale in October, and the National Arts Council launched its new public art initiative and a publication on Singapore’s visual artists.
