State of the Arts: April 4 to 11

SINGAPORE — The Singapore International Festival of Arts unveiled its full line-up for this year’s festival proper and pre-fest event The OPEN, including shows in the heartlands, the former Bukit Timah Railway Station and Bukit Brown Cemetery. Writing centre Centre 42 unveiled its new archive website The Repository and the Singapore Art Museum opened this year’s edition of its South-east Asia Film Festival. Two SG50-themed exhibitions also opened: The music-related So Happy at The Substation and the National Heritage Board’s Deliciously Singaporean. The ongoing productions and readings under the Esplanade’s Studios season also had company with the opening of two shows: Checkpoint Theatre’s Normal and W!ld Rice’s Public Enemy. MAYO MARTIN
