SINGAPORE — Festival fever continues as the Singapore International Festival Of Arts and the Singapore Night Festival are joined by the Esplanade’s Pesta Raya. The Singapore Writers Festival announced that poet-journalist Yeow Kai Chai is set to take over current director Paul Tan for next year’s edition. Straits Times photojournalist Neo Xiaobin bagged this year’s Icon de Martell Cordon Bleu photography award, while the APB Foundation Signature Art Prize 2014 released the names of its 15 finalists, which included Singaporean artists Ho Tzu Nyen and Zhao Renhui. Meanwhile, the National Arts Council held its Let’s Talk meeting with members of the arts community. The National Book Development Council of Singapore announced three new judges for its Singapore Literature Prize’s English non-fiction category, replacing the judges who had previously resigned following the National Library Board saga. Finally, the Singapore Art Museum held an event in commemoration of the 12th anniversary of the death of the influential Brother Joseph McNally.
