SINGAPORE — The launch of the Singapore International Festival Of Arts after a one year absence — with the unusual opening show, science-meets-art pop opera Facing Goya — lords over a very busy week in the scene. Elsewhere, The Substation started a fundraising campaign to repair its art gallery (similar to 2902 Gallery’s campaign to finance its new photography space DECK).

SINGAPORE — The launch of the Singapore International Festival Of Arts after a one year absence — with the unusual opening show, science-meets-art pop opera Facing Goya — lords over a very busy week in the scene. Elsewhere, The Substation started a fundraising campaign to repair its art gallery (similar to 2902 Gallery’s campaign to finance its new photography space DECK).

Also announced were the Centre for Contemporary Art at Gillman Barracks’ inaugural artists residency programme and a new online portal for selling art called Kwerkee Art. Noise Singapore Festival 2014’s The Apprenticeship Programme (TAP) exhibition opened at SAM@8Q, Aliwal Arts Centre’s second Art Night Crawl was held and the restaging of Dick Lee’s Hotpants musical began. Finally, after having an Arts Nominated Member of Parliament MP for two consecutive terms, this year’s line-up did not have an arts representative. MAYO MARTIN
