SINGAPORE — This year’s edition of the Berlin International Film Festival will have a significant Singaporean presence, as two more homegrown talents join director Glen Goei, whose latest film project Pontianak was included in the Berlinale Talent Project Market. Film-maker Michael Kam’s short film Melodie was selected as part of the Berlinale Talents 2015 programme, while Singapore International Film Festival executive director Yuni Hadi was invited to be a member of the Berlinale’s International Short Film jury. Meanwhile, Noor Effendy Ibrahim officially stepped down as artistic director of The Substation. But what seemed like a relatively quiet week was somewhat shaken by news of artworks being damaged at the Destruction & Rebirth art event at The Mill during last weekend’s dance party. Items vandalised included photographs, a brickwork installation and a light installation. MAYO MARTIN
