State of the Arts: Sept 9 to 15
SINGAPORE — Ilo Ilo’s winning streak continued, with three awards at Russia’s Pacific Meridian Film Festival (Best Feature, the NETPAC prize, and Best Actress for Yeo Yann Yann). Young artist Sarah Choo, meanwhile, won the ICON de Martell Cordon Bleu photography award. Dick Lee returned to the world of musicals with the announcement of his latest, LightSeeker, which will be shown at Resorts World Sentosa in November. A conference on the performing arts scene was held at The Substation as part of its SeptFest festival. Singapore Pinacotheque de Paris opened a pop-up exhibition of art masterpieces at Fort Canning as a teaser to its opening in 2015. Overseas, The Necessary Stage’s Mobile 2 travelled to Kuala Lumpur, while the Lyon Biennale had a bit of a Singapore presence in Ming Wong, as well as Charles Lim, who also appeared in a satellite show.
