SINGAPORE – Actor Shaun Chen and his wife Celine are expecting a second child, the Mediacorp actor said today.

The 38-year-old made the announcement on Facebook and Instagram, with a photo of himself kissing his wife’s pregnant belly, and a caption wishing everyone a happy Valentine’s Day.

“Is it going to be my or her Valentine’s? Or perhaps a little brother or sister to the elder girl?” he wrote.

Speaking to TODAY, Chen confirmed that his wife is currently four months pregnant, and that they do not know the baby’s gender yet.

“I am very happy, of course, to be adding a new member to the family. I hope both mother and baby will be happy and healthy,” he said in a phone interview. “I am okay with a baby of either gender, as long as the child is happy. My wife prefers girls, though, because she thinks they are better behaved, and they can dress up and play together.”

Chen, known for starring in dramas such as Holland V and The Journey: Tumultuous Times, added that his wife plans to deliver the child in her hometown of Alor Star in Malaysia, so that his in-laws can help take care of the newborn baby.

They have also started “introducing” their first child, Nellie, to her new brother or sister.

“We have been telling her that Mummy has a baby, and that the baby is in her belly. She touches the belly and says ‘baby’. It’s very cute,” he said, clearly enamoured of his firstborn.

Chen married his wife, Celine, in 2015. The couple welcomed Nellie later that same year.
