Faye Wong on divorce: There is no third party

BEIJING — Chinese singer Faye Wong refuted the many rumours swirling around her recent divorce from actor husband Li Yapeng on her micro blog yesterday (Sept 18).

BEIJING — Chinese singer Faye Wong refuted the many rumours swirling around her recent divorce from actor husband Li Yapeng on her micro blog yesterday (Sept 18).

“I wanted the divorce. There is no third party, no mother-in-law trouble, and no financial problems involved,” said Wong in a micro blog post.

“This is not a tragic drama. It’s a peaceful separation, a different way of getting along.”

“To the children, we are still a family. Thank you.”

In her post, she also made it clear that she “will not become a nun” and added an emoticon to express her annoyance with that particular rumour.

Wong, 44, and Li, 41, announced on their micro blogs on Friday last week that they have decided to end their eight-year marriage, and that their daughter, Li Yan, will live with her father.

This is Wong’s second failed marriage.

The singer was previously married to Chinese musician Dou Wei, with whom she had a daughter, but the couple went their separate ways in 1999. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
