HONG KONG — Top Hong Kong entertainer Andy Lau was being treated on Wednesday (Jan 18) for a pelvic injury after he was thrown off a horse during a film shoot in Thailand, his company has confirmed.
Topman Global Limited, a subsidiary of the Lau-founded Focus Group, released a statement shortly after news surfaced that the 55-year old actor, singer and producer was seriously injured in the accident on Monday.
“Mr Lau is now under the care of a medical team and everything is fine at present,” the statement read. “There is no cause for worry.”
Apple Daily reported earlier that Lau arrived in Thailand on Monday and worked on the shoot near the capital, Bangkok.
During the shoot, the horse reportedly lost control, throwing Lau to the ground and stepping on his back, fracturing his lumbar. Lau was taken to a local hospital and is expected to fly back to Hong Kong on a medical flight.
Lau, as well as being a renowned Canto-pop singer, is one of Asia’s most recognisable faces having appeared in films such as Infernal Affairs and the recent fantasy period movie, The Great Wall, alongside Matt Damon. SOUTH CHINA MORNING POST
