SINGAPORE — Singapore pop star Stefanie Sun met her doppelganger — or rather, her brand new Madame Tussauds wax figure — earlier today (Sept 30).
The Stefanie Sun wax figure, which was presented at a private unveiling event, is the first of a string of iconic Singaporean figures that will be showcased in the Madame Tussauds Singapore attraction when it opens on Oct 25. The figure portrayed Sun in her signature look for the 2014 Kepler World Tour, featuring her orange hair, the customised black fringed singlet with flowing chiffon panels by Augustin Teboul, leather leggings, shoes by Alexander Wang and a crystal-encrusted microphone. The outfit was donated by the singer to Madame Tussauds.
“I was a bit scared. I really was not expecting it (to look so real),” Sun said. “I thought the eyes were incredible, I didn’t want to go too close to her — it felt very real. I like the smile, I felt it captured a good moment. I like everything about it.”
Sun had met the Madame Tussauds team in April for a four-hour sitting in which they collected measurements, photos, costume donations, a hand cast, hair samples, a signature and checks for eye colour matches. Lily Lim, general manager of Madame Tussauds Singapore, described Sun as “Singapore’s most iconic superstar” and that they were “proud to launch her figure as the first Singaporean personality” to be showcased in the museum. She added that more Singapore icons will be unveiled in due course.
Other celebrities featured at the attraction include Lewis Hamilton, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Beyonce, Michelle Yeoh and Lady Gaga.
