That’s a bidet?: Jennifer Lawrence’s toilet humour

LONDON — This isn’t the first time a celebrity has taken to social media to refute a rumour, but this may be the strangest rumour-busting video yet.

LONDON — This isn’t the first time a celebrity has taken to social media to refute a rumour, but this may be the strangest rumour-busting video yet.

It all stemmed from an interview Jennifer Lawrence conducted with MTV, wherein she was asked about the bad habits she and her fellow Hunger Games stars had on set.

“My gross ones, (are) probably ... I don’t wash my hands after I go to the bathroom,” Lawrence said.

“And then she likes to come back and literally puts her hands all over your face or in your mouth,” her co-star Liam Hemsworth joined in.

“That was f****d up, sorry,” she later added.

The story was picked up by multiple social media users and publications, and people started commenting that Jennifer Lawrence had a “disgusting” habit.

However, she verified later that the statement was a joke. “I hate talking to the Internet, but I can’t get asked another question about my hygiene on this press tour,” she said. “I told MTV I didn’t wash my hands after going to the bathroom because I was trying to gross out Josh and Liam and I ended up grossing out the world.

“Of course, I wash my hands after going to the bathroom! I can’t believe I’ve put myself in a situation where I even have to say that. Anyway, with all the rumours I’ve ever heard about myself, this is the one I really had to put to rest.”

Hence the rumour-busting — and quite funny — video. In it, Lawrence appears in a dressing gown walks from the toilet to the sink to wash her hands.

“What a weird toilet,” she mutters before an off-camera voice informs her she had used a bidet — and not a toilet.

“It’s not a toilet? Oh, well then I don’t have to wash my hands!” she says before immediately leaving the room.

We can’t wait for the “doesn’t J Law know the difference between a toilet and a bidet” reactions to really hit the fan. The Daily Telegraph

The final instalment of The Hunger Games series, Mockingjay Part 2, opens in Singapore on Nov 19.
