SINGAPORE – This morning, tweens all over the world woke up to find that their lives will never be the same again. In a post on One Direction’s Facebook page, Zayn Malik announced he will be leaving the boy band after five years, because he wants to be a “normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight”.

We fully understand Malik’s need for a break, even though we can hear hearts shattering everywhere as we write. But if we look on the bright side, One Direction can now do things as a four-piece that they never could with Malik. Here are some suggestions:

1. Play Mahjong. Obviously.

2. Strut down New York City like the Sex And The City girls. Wait, are One Direction fans old enough to even watch Sex And The City?

3. Sing 2NE1 songs at karaoke. They can have compete: Who do you think would make a better CL - Harry or Louis?

4. Form a bobsleigh team. Just because.

5. Hire a replacement fifth member and make him a Singaporean. We recommend our very own Taufik Batisah, who can lend the whole “older brother” vibe and, like Malik, is dark, mysterious and handsome - and also engaged.

Do you have other suggestions? Leave them in the comments below.
