SINGAPORE – Actor Edmund Chen has filed a police report against a woman whom he claims he lost S$11,000 to.

The actor posted a picture on Facebook of the Singapore Police Force logo, along with confirmation that he has lodged a report. "A letter to the police officer," he wrote, on the post, without revealing further details.

Chen, 56, took to social media on Monday (April 10) and Tuesday to tell the story of how a stranger had first approached him on Facebook, gained his trust, and eventually became a friend of the Chen family. Chen said he had known that she was in financial trouble, and so gave her "hong baos" amounting to S$11,000. No contract was signed, he told TODAY, but in return for the money, she allegedly helped the actor with the sales and marketing of a reprint of his Little Red Dot book. She also allegedly ended up managing his social media accounts.

Chen told of how the relationship eventually turned sour, claiming that she would agree to projects without his consent. He claimed that she "destroyed" his Facebook account, and that he had to turn to Facbook in order to regain control of the account, since she had changed his password. He said that the woman also had been in touch with his business partners and contacts, after he told her to leave his company.

The woman, speaking Lianhe Wanbao, denied Chen's claims, and said she has been in talks with her lawyer and was considering taking legal action to protect the interests of her partners and clients.

In an interview with TODAY, Chen said that in response to his Facebook post, "so many people identified her" and that "so many people kena from her". He claimed that she is a "seasoned player". His lodging a police report has come in the wake of these allegations.
