SINGAPORE — Eight Mediacorp radio stations were among the top 10 most-listened-to radio stations in Singapore, according to the latest Nielsen Radio Diary Survey (NRDS), which was released on Thursday.

The top three most-listened-to stations across all languages are Mediacorp’s three Chinese stations: Yes 933 (with a listenership of 19.9 per cent), Love97.2FM (19.2 per cent) and Capital 95.8FM (18.2 per cent).

The most-listened-to English radio station is Class 95, which reached its highest listenership in the last three years, with some 758,000 listeners. It came in fourth in the overall standings, and bettered its performance from the previous survey with a listenership of 17.8 per cent, up from the previous 15.9 per cent.

In terms of percentage increase in listenership, however, 938LIVE made the biggest jump of all the major radio stations, with an increase of nearly 29 per cent, drawing in some 290,000 listeners (up from 225,000 in the previous survey period).

Malay radio station Warna 94.2FM was sixth overall (with 11.1 per cent), while Gold 905 was seventh (with 9.8 per cent). Indian radio station Oli 96.8FM was ninth, with its listenership of 325,000 being the highest recorded since 2010; while English pop station 987 rounded up the top 10.

Irene Lim, Head, Family Segment (Chinese) said she was delighted that three Chinese radio stations took the top three positions, but also acknowledged the listeners’ support. “We couldn’t have been top again without the unwavering support of our listeners and business partners. We will continue to fulfil our promise to entertain and deliver the best music, news and lifestyle content to listeners,” she said.

Debra Soon, Head, Family Segment (English) added: “Mediacorp’s English stations have done well, with Class 95 leading the pack and growing by 90,000 listeners a week.”

She also thanked listeners, saying that their support, as well as participation at radio-organised events, showed that “radio in Singapore, 80 years on, is still highly engaging and relevant”.

The NRDS, which is carried out twice a year, also measures radio stations’ performance in terms of audience share and time spent listening (TSL).

In terms of share, Capital 95.8FM came out tops; while Warna 94.2FM is the top radio station in terms of TSL, with listeners tuning in for an average of 16 hours and 39 minutes.
