BEIJING — He’s already taken on Batman, but who else would Superman like to fight next — at least cinematically? The short answer: Everyone.

“I don’t think there is any one hero I would like to go up against. Without sounding a little egotistical, it’s a little unfair,” said Henry Cavill who plays the titular Superman in Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice. “So I think it’s fun to have Superman go up against everyone.”

In typical dedicated geek mode, Cavill explained his answer by referencing Injustice: Gods Among Us – a video game based upon the DC Comics universe.

“Now that’s a storyline that’s very controversial and very interesting. It’s essentially Superman and pretty much everyone. And it’s very interesting to see,” said the actor. “You should get to see (Superman) unbound. You get to see Superman doing everything Superman can do.”

He did admit there is a fly in that fanboy’s ointment though. “The problem with that is that it probably wouldn’t’ happen anyway because that requires a part of Superman’s personality or character to be changed or switched off,” Cavill said thoughtfully.

“There’s something fascinating in that (idea), but there’s also something wrong about it as well. Which is why that kind of story arc is so popular, because it’s fascinating to read. It makes people feel vindicated and excited. And yet wrong at the same time.”

So who is Cavill excited to be working alongside in the highly anticipated Justice League movie out in 2017?

“Jason Momoa!” he said without hesitation. “I think he will play an amazing Aquaman and I’m looking forward to playing opposite him and being in scenes with him.”

And he had a little more to tease. “I think he’s going to lend something quite powerful to that role which is going to make a very unique Aquaman, which will tie into stuff we see in the comic book as well as stuff which we haven’t even seen in the comic books!” Cavill shared.

“It’s going to happen and I’m excited to see that!”

Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice is showing in cinemas now.
