LOS ANGELES — Movie-making’s biggest event of the year is back: The Academy Awards, officially renamed The Oscars this year, has returned to reward the industry’s top picks in the past year of movie-making.

Will Daniel Day-Lewis win best actor yet again? Will Argo win best picture even if its director Ben Affleck was snubbed? From fashion snafus to the actual awards, our Flick Chick Genevieve Loh and Executive Editor Phin Wong join in on the festivities in their very own special way — basically everything they can’t say in print.

Right now, the red carpet in under way — and the stars have already begun streaming into The Dolby Theatre.

Phin: It’s 8am on Oscar morning! Which means the starlets have arrived on the red carpet and Genevieve and I are hungover. Let’s start with the fashion as my instant coffee slowly works its magic.

Phin: Hey, it’s last year’s Best Supporting Actress, Octavia Spencer! And it looks like she’s wearing Oprah Winfrey.

Phin: Jessica Chastain is gorgeous, chanelling Rita Hayworth in Armani Prive. Old Hollywood glamour’s huge on the red carpet this year.

Phin: Jennifer Lawrence looks grand in Dior Haute Couture ... If she were on the cover of Modern Brides magazine. It’s the Oscars, hon. Find your man somewhere else.

Genevieve: Quvenzhane Wallis who stars as Hushpuppy in Beasts of the Southern Wild, was just five when she first auditioned for the film, 9 years old when she became the youngest EVER nominee for Best Actress and wearing Armani on the red carpet, can she possibly have a normal childhood after this?

Phin: Is it just me or is Amanda Seyfried looking 27-going-on-40? That dowdy hair colour is totally Miserables.

Phin: Hey, Reese Witherspoon is here! Why is she here again?
