SINGAPORE — German actor Daniel Bruhl has been joined the cast of the next Captain America movie, said Marvel in a statement last night (Nov 14).

According to Variety.com, Bruhl will play a villain in the movie, set to be released in 2016.

Variety.com also said that Bruhl’s character will not be the main villain in the Captain America movie, but could return in the Doctor Strange movie as the primary antagonist.

Bruhl most recent notable role was portraying former Formula One driver Niki Lauda in the movie Rush.

“With Daniel’s ability to deliver intense, nuanced performances, we knew we had found yet another great actor to share the screen with some of our biggest heroes,” said Marvel Studios’ president Kevin Feige.

Bruhl will join Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr and Chadwick Boseman in the next Captain America movie entitled Captain America: Civil War — a live-action adaption of the popular Civil War storyline in the comics. Other actors expected to reprise their roles from the last Captain America movie include Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes aka the Winter Soldier, Scarlett Johansson as Natalia Romanoff aka Black Widow, and Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury.
