LOS ANGELES — After handing the Star Wars reins over the Disney, George Lucas definitely has no desire left to helm another film in the franchise.

“You go to make a movie and all you do is get criticised,” Lucas told Vanity Fair when prompted about why he left the series. “And it’s not much fun. You can’t experiment.”

That’s not to say he doesn’t still have a vested interest in the galaxy far far away. He has hopes for where the story could go. Like the vast majority of the fanbase, Lucas is curious to learn what came of Darth Vader’s grandkids. He also pointed out about the franchise, “there’s more to it than just spaceships”.

The Star Wars creator did say he had a concern as Disney expands the universe past Luke Skywalker’s story. He hopes “the Force doesn’t get muddled into a bunch of gobbledygook”.

Lucas probably also managed to infuriate someone when he jokingly said the almost universally hated Jar Jar Binks was the character he’d most like to be.
