SINGAPORE — Just two days before its opening night, organisers of the 1 World Festival, a music event slated for the F1 race weekend, announced that it would be cancelled.

Event organiser Retfar Entertainment cited “unforeseen circumstances” in a short Facebook post announcing the cancellation at about 9pm today (Sept 18).

“The staff of 1 World Music Festival is a passionate group and everyone involved in putting this event on were dedicated and very disheartened at this turn of events. All support shown for this event has been very much appreciated,” said the organisers.

1 World Festival was scheduled to take place this Friday and Saturday. The event boasted a strong line-up of local and international artistes such as rappers Snoop Dogg and Kevin Lester.

All tickets and tables sold for the festival will be refunded accordingly, said the organisers. Affected customers can approach their ticketing agents for further details beginning Sept 25.

Within one hour of posting, the Facebook announcement drew about 100 comments as enraged fans and ticket-holders questioned the move. They demanded a better explanation for the cancellation, with several pointing out that they had already bought tickets to fly into Singapore for the event. Several fans have also brought their ire on Twitter, questioning the last minute decision.
