5 song parody ideas for NDP 2014
SINGAPORE — If there is one overwhelming consensus in Singapore this year, it’s probably that the 2013 NDP theme song One Singapore doesn’t quite leave us reaching for tissues with affection for the motherland.
Okay, we’re being kind.
But, this being the age of the Interwebs, you can trust some enterprising Singaporeans to come up with their own interpretations of NDP songs.
And some of these songs are actually better (or at least more entertaining) than the original versions. Just take a look at this punk rock version of One Singapore (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3jfNI5jpxU). It’ll probably send Teresa Teng-lovin’ uncles and aunties running for cover, but we think it seriously trumps the original on the cool factor.
Here’s a list of NDP song parodies that made us cry ... from laughter, at least.
1. ONE SINGAPORE FEAT. STEPHEN CHOW. Yup. Pretty much sums up what we feel about the song, oh-so-elegantly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7qxHTWtZN8
2. LOVE AT FIRST LIGHT, CHIPMUNK VERSION. All this YouTube user did was make Olivia Ong and Natanya Tan sound like chipmunks in the music video. So why is this video so darn funny? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXlo_o4Yk8I
