B.A.P wants to eat chilli crabs, too

SINGAPORE — We tried our best to bring you, dear readers, a juicy and exciting story from the B.A.P press conference this evening (Aug 7).

SINGAPORE — We tried our best to bring you, dear readers, a juicy and exciting story from the B.A.P press conference this evening (Aug 7).

After all, the Korean boy band will be holding its first full-fledged concert in Singapore the next day (with a little help from main sponsor, MediaCorp’s MEclub).

Armed with a full list of questions for Bang Yong Guk, Zelo, Him Chan, Dae Hyun, Young Jae and Jong Up, we made our way to City Square Mall.

There, we were greeted by what we assume to be the typical K-pop meet-and-greet scenario: An overwhelmed translator who could not be heard or understood over the screams of hundreds of excited teenage girls, while a reticent boy band offered polite answers in response to polite questions.

Here’s what we managed to salvage.

***

Q: What are your first impressions of Singapore?

Yong Guk: Singapore is very clean, and the people are very nice. The Babies (erm, B.A.P fans) are so pretty.

Q: Many of your fans stood in line for days, didn’t sleep, didn’t go to school or work to queue up for the tickets. So, B.A.P, what do you love about Singapore Babies?

Yong Guk: We really appreciate our fans for their love, and will show our appreciation at our concert.

Q: What is one local food you’d like to try?

Himchan: We really want to have chilli crab.

Q: You mean you’ll have chilli crab after this (press conference)? Today?

Him Chan: Yes.

Q: What can the Babies look forward to during your concert in Singapore?

Young Jae: We are going to show our performances (inaudible) and our new songs.

Q: You have filmed several music videos, some in the USA, in the Philippines and in Malaysia. When are you going to film a music video in Singapore?

Him Chan: If we have time to shoot the music video, we really want to do it here, because Singapore is a very clean and beautiful country.

Q: You made your debut last January, so it’s been 20 months. What special memories do you have from the last few months?

Dae Hyun: Right now is a special moment for us.

Q: You’ve released a new single, Badman. Which one of you is a bad man?

Jong Up: The new song Badman is (inaudible because of screaming fans). And the bad man in the group is ... Himchan.

Q: And which one of you is the good man?

Jong Up: Yongguk.

Q: Last year, B.A.P won many awards, including 13 best rookie awards in Korea alone. What are some goals you hope to achieve next year?

Yong Guk: We want to introduce our new song Badman to everyone.

Q: Okay. What about awards?

Zelo: We would really appreciate prizes if we can win them, but we will keep doing our best every day.

Q: You’ve been on tour the last six months. What has it been like for all of you?

Dae Hyun: We are (inaudible because of screaming fans).

The B.A.P Live On Earth concert will be held tomorrow, August 8, 6pm, at The Star Theatre. Tickets starting from S$108 at Sistic.
