SINGAPORE — Students from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) held their biggest public annual event, NTU Fest, at the Promontory @ Marina Bay on Saturday.

Comprising a day-long carnival, a charity run and a concert, the event was meant to celebrate Singapore’s Golden Jubilee and marks the start of NTU’s new academic year. The evening’s entertainment was headlined by Dal Shabet, the sexy six-piece all-girl K-pop group, who got the crowd moving to their hits. Also on the line-up were more than a dozen MediaCorp stars and personalities, including the artistes of Channel 8’s latest drama series, Sealed With A Kiss, Rebecca Lim, Elvin Ng, Jeffrey Xu and Zhang Zhen Huan; members of the 8 Dukes (including Zhang and Xu, along with Romeo Tan, Shane Pow and Ian Fang); and the stars of the Channel 5 drama, Tanglin (Nat Ho, Eswari Gunasagar, Elfaeza Ul Haq and Jae Liew).

Education Minister Heng Swee Keat officiated at NTU Fest 2015, and he launched the event by unveiling NTU’s record-breaking NTU Fest logo, which was made with 10,000 photos of NTU students and the community. The logo, which took five months to put together, surpasses the previous local record of more than 1,000 photos and has been entered into the Singapore Book of Records.

The minister, who also chairs the SG50 steering committee, kicked off the NTU Fest evening concert with a rendition of what has become Singapore’s most famous National Day song, Home. He was accompanied by actress Lim, NTU president professor Bertil Andersson, provost Freddy Boey, as well as students.
