SINGAPORE — Oklahoma psychedelic rock group The Flaming Lips will be making their return to Singapore this December after performing here last in 2010.

The band, which was listed among Q magazine’s list of 50 bands to watch before you die, will play a one-night only gig at The Coliseum at the Hard Rock Hotel Singapore on Dec 1.

The Flaming Lips are known for their lavish and elaborate live shows, which feature costumes, balloons, puppets, video projections and copious amounts of streamers and confetti. During their concerts, frontman Wayne Coyne also gets into a human-sized plastic bubble to traverse on and interact with the crowd.

Last Sunday (Oct 12), the band announced that they would be releasing a tribute album to the classic Beatles record, Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. The album, entitled With A Little Help From My Fwends, will go on sale on Oct 28. The likes of Miley Cyrus, Teagan & Sara, Moby, and Tool vocalist James Maynard Keenan have all contributed tracks to the album.

The Flaming Lips have won three Grammy awards in their 21-year career. Tickets for the show will go on sale next Monday (Oct 20) at EventClique.com.
